Whether you've already started watching Gilmore Girls and Googled where your nearest pumpkin patch is, or you're still trying to sunbathe in your garden, this latte hits the spot. Iced or hot it is balanced and delicious.
This is a marriage of teas, masala chai and matcha; "masala" meaning mixed spice and "chai" meaning tea and of course "matcha" meaning ground tea. The addition of turmeric gives this latte a lovely golden colour so make sure you don't skip it!
As always, follow your tastebuds and adjust this recipe accordingly!
Ingredients
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/4 tsb ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsb turmeric
Optional fresh ginger 1cm
Matcha powder, original or vanilla
200ml of your fav milk
Maple syrup or brown sugar
Method
Step 1. In a pan heat your spices together on a low heat until you can smell them including your optional freshly grated ginger, at this stage pour in your brown sugar or maple syrup, and about a quarter of your milk for an iced latte and remove from the heat. For a hot latte, pour all of your milk in and continue to heat.
Step 2. If using vanilla matcha add 1tsp to your milk and mix. If using our original matcha powder, add 1/2 tsp of original matcha powder to hot, not boiling water and whisk.
Step 3: For your iced latte strain your spiced milk into your glass, top with the rest of your milk and ice, followed by your matcha. For your hot latte, do the exact same, skipping the addition of ice of course!
When your milk is at about 80°C or not quite boiling
