Overnight oats are perfect for if you need a quick breakfast, are on the go, or if you just prefer to have everything prepared for breakfast the night before. They make me feel very prepared and are seriously quick to make.
The salty component of regular salt or miso really helps to balance everything out. I use miso more often than salt because it works so well with the umami flavour of matcha.
Ingredients
60g rolled oats
60ml preferred milk
1 tsp vanilla matcha powder
1 heaped tsp chia seeds
Splash of Maple Syrup
Fruit of your choice (optional)
Pinch of salt or 1/4 tsp miso
Method
Step 1. Combine everything but your fruit into a jar or tupperware and mix until everything is distributed evenly. There is no need to sift your matcha just pop it in directly.
Step 2. Top with a few fruits of choice, I went for blackberries here but most fruits will work really well.
Step 3. Leave your oats overnight in the fridge and enjoy in the morning.
Tips
Consistency makes a big difference, so if you know you like your oats thicker, use a bit less milk and vice versa for a thinner consistency.
You can add barley or rye flakes as part of your oat component to vary things.
You can freeze your oats if you want to batch prepare!
If you want a bigger portion, just dial up the number of oats, and add an equal amount of milk.
