Pumpkin spice season, but make it matcha. We've swirled a homemade maple pumpkin purée through warm milk and topped it with whisked PerfectTed Original Matcha Powder, whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon. Ready to try it? Here's how:
ingredients (serves 1)
- 1 tsp PerfectTed Original Matcha Powder
- 60ml hot water (70 to 80°C)
- 3 tbsp pumpkin purée
- 2½ tbsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp pumpkin spice
- 200ml milk of your choice
- 50ml whipping cream
- a pinch of cinnamon
method
- Make the Pumpkin Spice Purée: mix 3 tbsp of pumpkin purée, 2½ tbsp of maple syrup and ½ tsp of pumpkin spice until smooth. This makes several servings, so store the extra in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Whisk the Matcha: add 1 tsp of PerfectTed Original Matcha Powder to a bowl with 60ml of hot water (70 to 80°C) and whisk until smooth and frothy.
- Dress the Mug: swirl some of the pumpkin spice purée around the inside of your favourite mug.
- Warm the Milk: gently warm 200ml of milk in a saucepan or the microwave, then whisk in 1 tbsp of the pumpkin spice purée until fully combined. Pour it into your mug, then add the matcha.
- Top and Enjoy: whip 50ml of whipping cream until soft peaks form, spoon it on top and finish with a pinch of cinnamon. Your Pumpkin Spice Matcha Latte is ready to enjoy!
tips for the best pumpkin spice matcha latte
- Whisking matters: use a bamboo whisk or a handheld frother for smooth, clump free matcha.
- Mind the temperature: keep your water between 70 and 80°C. Boiling water can make matcha taste bitter.
- Batch the purée: make it once and keep it in the fridge, ready for your next few lattes.
- Sweeten to taste: add more or less maple syrup to suit you.
